Mikel is an Idaho native. Her family has been in Idaho for four generations. She is a Boise State University Senior studying political science. After graduation she plans to attend law school. In addition to full-time studies at BSU, she has a full time job and serves as Region II Chair on the Executive Committee of the Idaho Libertarian Party. Mikel represented Idaho as a voting delegate to the 2004 and 2008 Presidential Nominating Conventions. She is a political activist, having been recognized for her libertarian volunteerism with a “Lights of Liberty” award.

Mikel is a dedicated mother of a nine-year-old son. When she can, she enjoys bike riding, golf, baseball and reading.
